Laine Top Tips

How can I make my wedding unique to me and my partner?

It’s about you and your betrothed, whether you want a cheesecake display, buffet of roast potatoes or gold plated-jewel-encrusted cutlery (as long as we’re not footing that bill 😜) the world is full of resources (just watch out for import delays- thanks brexit).

Our eclectic venues have been selected and designed around different elements unique to the area the pub is located in. Bringing a story behind each venue that is reflected in design and décor. Our north London beaut the Owl & Hitchhiker sits proudly on Holloway Road – based upon not one but two famous authors; Douglas Adams who wrote the fantastical Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and the man of many talents Edward Lear who penned the poem Owl & the Pussycat. This pub is stylised on a story book, which brings the perfect backdrop to a fairy tale inspired wedding.

How should we treat our guests?

Make sure your guests are well fed and watered. Most couples who choose a pub wedding is looking for the traditional hearty, home-made pub grub offering, so you’re already on track to keeping them well sated.

Our premier wedding venue The Prince Albert, lays on a good spread of delicious traditional pub grub served in our beautiful first floor dining room. However don’t forget to order our tasty canapes for the arrival of your guests, it’s a lovely gesture but also keeps them happy. Imagine everyone has a glass of bubbles in one hand and some tasty nibbles in the other, all your guests are immediately relaxed and are happy to wait for your big arrival!

As the wedding reception party wears on, and the high heel shoes have been thrown to the side of the dancefloor, an evening buffet is the best way to keep your guests going. Served later at night, it provides an energy boost for your wedding day party but also treats your evening guests, the ones who came later.

We have a selection of menus to choose from, including a vegan only set menu. As well as BBQ and hog roasts for the more summer and casual weddings.

Do you have any Entertainment packages?

Put your own stamp on your party and book an entertainment package. A pub setting is surprisingly flexible when it comes to adding little extras, the versatility of the function rooms and garden areas can aide in creating different moments of your wedding day.

Most pubs have a basic line PA system so you can level up from a playlist and book a foot stomping rock raucous band or even dance floor filling DJ, perfect to keep the wedding reception party rolling.

We don’t do things by half at Laine, we work with a range of circus performers, dancers, singers, drag acts, cabaret hosts and so many more talented artists. We really can raise the roof in London.

Our mother of all entertainment venue is the Aeronaut – the perfect pub for a couple looking for a wedding reception that is something a little bit different. Inspired by George Lee Temple, the first person to fly a plane upside down, all things aerial are celebrated here! A giant upside down plane made of wood is suspended from the ceiling, an astronaut head through hole photobooth hangs onto the main bar and the cherry on the cake is a 200 capacity function room where you can dance under a gorgeous vintage circus tent. This Circus Room hosts weekly cabaret and circus nights, from aerial acts to flame throwing – the light and sound rigging provide a full tech back up….which means you can literally book your very own circus show for your wedding reception.

How do we harmonise with the pub?

Our pubs are pretty eclectic, they all have very unique features aesthetics. So play to them, note the colours in the walls, floors and ceilings - incorporate them into the theme of your wedding.

When it comes to theming your tables and buying your flowers look at the colours the pub has to offer you.

Rolling down to south east London, you will stumble upon our neighbourhood favourite The Honor Oak, a gorgeous pub settled on the border of leafy Forest Hill. Two beer gardens an enormous living wall and a beautiful subtly dressed first floor function room provide a more rustic traditional colour palette for a more laid back wedding reception. Muted tones celebrate natural colours and bounce off perfectly with the natural wood falls not to mention the room is bathed in natural light.
