A very 2021 wedding

COVID has hit and we are hopefully out the other side, with the UK restrictions thankfully eased. However the various lockdowns and travel restrictions have left many couples having to reconsider their original wedding plans.

More than ever, lots of couples are having to be far more resourceful and flexible.

Not all my guests can come to the wedding reception - what do I do?

Guestlists are still pretty limited these days with many families being spread across GB or even further afield. Wedding guests are having to fly in to be with their loved ones on their special day and the current  climate of travel bans not lifting at any noticeable rate, is making it harder to achieve your original wedding reception plans.

Couples are opting for small ceremonies at registry offices and pubs with a scaled back informal wedding reception nearby. Don’t be afraid to explore what’s in your local area.

Can a pub host a wedding ceremony and reception?

Full no expense spared weddings are being scaled back to informal standing drink receptions in back gardens. Cue your pub.

Some pubs have wedding licences others don't, just ask the venue and they will be able to tell you. Others can host mock wedding ceremonies and a darn good wedding breakfast and reception.

A cozy boozer is the perfect fuss free environment for a get together with those lucky few who can actually attend.

Pubs are the third space, the home from home. A homely feeling venue which offers good freshly made pub grub, an extensive drinks list and ample room to be with you and yours whether it’s a buffet, sit down dinner or a party of a wedding reception.

Check The Prince Albert in Camden HERE - where you can sip bubbles in the beer garden,  wine and dine on the first floor and dance the night away on the ground floor. It doesn't come better or EASIER than this.

What about photographers and other suppliers?

Fret not! Many couples are being resourceful and finding suppliers through Instagram. At least this way you can also support local businesses and really find something fun and unique which would make your event stand out from the others.

Get surfing on the internet, online stores offer wedding dress styles for less and with a speedy delivery. And there is nothing more fun than digging through heaps of glorious vintage clothing at fairs and charity shops. You are sure to bag a bargain.

Think about scaling back the entertainment level too, a band or DJ is not all that necessary. Spotify gives anyone a plethora of music and chance to curate a playlist unique to you. A soundtrack can encompass all the music you and your betrothed have ever enjoyed during your relationship.

Some of your favourite moments can be denoted with a song - you could even amp up the tempo as the evening wears on to encourage dancing later.

At the end of the day, some things really do work out for the best and as long as you are with your loved ones (albeit not all of them) everyone will have a joyous time.
